Madrasa

Namasté!

Last week we didn´t have the AC in the nights any longer. The evenings are getting nicer and cooler. It´s still 30 degrees in the middle of the day and about 25 degrees in the late afternoon.

I have been to many tours with my "seven cities" group and would like to share some part of it with you. It´s been a good way of learning history of Delhi and also making new friends.

Fifth city - Firozabad

Firoz Shah was the first ruler to think of the material welfare of his people. He built madrasas ( A building or group of buildings used for teaching Islamic theology and religious law, typically including a mosque.).

This madrasa in Hauz Khas was on of the largest and best appointed seminaries in the Islamic world.

The watertank was built so that rainwater could be preserved in the tank and distributed across the city.

They learnt Quranic studies, astronomy, mathematics, medicine, calligraphy, grammar and rhetoric.

As usual I found this woman working hard in one of the buildings. I hope they will maintain the buildnings better from now on.
