Namasté!
I have to get use to this expat life that friends come and leave all the time. It´s not easy! But the farwell lunch for a friend yesterday with champagne was nice!!
My Swedish´s visitors left Delhi yesterday and I felt very sad and got homesick. Felling much better today and visit aes ( American embassy school) celebrating UN day. It was such a nice event. 700 children from elementary school dressed up in clothes from their home countries. I liked the Chinese clothes best! Fantastic! One child from each country (54) held a flag and said in their own language:
-Hi! I am xxx and I am from xxxx.
Carl was picked us a speaker from Sweden. A pride mum was in the audience filming. Sorry no pictures!
And then some pictures from our "seven cities" tour of Lodi and Sayyid Dynasty.
Lodi garden
In this lovely garden we saw a beautiful bridge called the "athpula" bridge. It´s believed to have been built in the 16th century during Akbar´s reign. We are watching a movie about Akbar the great now. It´s a nice way of learning history with your kids!
Tomb of Sikander Lodi. Can you see the lack of chhatris? ( elevated, dome-shaped pavilions)They may have been removed.
This building may have been a tomb or a gateway. Nobody knows!
My Swedish visitors were invited on the tour.
You are a such a good friend and a wonderful person! As my son always say " a good friend can keep a secret".
Do you see the black kite? We also saw parakeets, pigeons and Indian mynas.
The tour guide also showed us Banyan tree ,India´s national tree. What makes a banyan tree unique is that its branches grow up and out and then start to grow down. They grow down and down until they reach the ground. Then the branches become roots. As a former PE teacher I had to tell all PE teacher ( and also parents) about a great way of teaching your pupils handstand.
This is a fish tail tree in blooming.
Yoki from China telling us about the birds and trees of Lodi Garden. We are from all over the world and trying to guide.
The 8th of Dec I will guide "British India" with my three friends. I am reading a lot about the British Raj now.
After the tour we have lunch together. The toilet were covered in marigold. Unfortunate we were not happy with the food. Otherwise I love Indian food.
